I love all the effort u put into this man... Thumbs up for you hope it works out just the way you wished.
Thanks I appreciate the encouragement i am receiving, as i iron out the kinks i will upgrade the system entirely, but until then i do not mind being the ebay Guinea Pig for the rest of you. trust me most of my hard ware is ebay but the really crucial stuff i believe is good quality. Here are some pics of the newest development, I was able to install the W.A.R Chip and modify it to accept the USB interface on the 990 ECU and I also converted the board to be able to swap out chips. I will be able to install stock chip if necessary, Finally after four hours of work!!!

No power!

after getting the motor together I had no electrical power!.WTF!!! so i took all of the wires from the starter and the alternator off and i am getting 9 volts from touching my trunk post and negative battery post! wt.. so now i am tracing wires to see if i can find one pinched. I didn't find any. go back three different times, tracing wires, still didn't find anything. read a post with e36 wire problems,
located my trunk lid wires and spread them through the loom.
When back the next day touched the battery post terminal on and i have light! dash lit up and time popped up Disconnected the battery post after trying to upload the W.A.R Chip and it only works with XP like the guys at Miller told me! So now I am trying to find an XP machine before I buy the OS, which I will do once I get the car running.

XP only for the W.A.R Chip

This week i have not been able to work on my car, between my job and rain i have not had the time. I plan to Load the WAR CHIP tomorrow and hopefully drive away.I have not found windows XP yet, i am hoping to get it today. just a run down of what is installed and procedure. Used head i picked up from the junkyard (car-part.com) $350 delivered once it arrived i took in to my local machine shop and had it pressure tested milled and cleaned for $114. VAC Comectic head gasket .120 which is said to put CR around 8:1 to 8.5:1, ARP 2000 Head studs which i install the head with at 80lb-ft, Ebay turbo kit which included 57 tirm Turbo, Turbo mani, external wastegate, oil lines which i had to purchase fittings to connect it to the block, boost gauge, turbo timer, Fuel Pressure regulator, 3" down pipe which needed a little beating to fit around the Transmission, BOV which i replace for another ebay sequential unit, boost controller, intercooler and piping $1199 delivered, W.A.R Chip $350 from VAC and 42lb injectors from VAC, 255 Walbro for $80.

I am not sure as to what type of Whp i will get but i am all most certain that i can tune to 13 lbs of boost and my fuel injectors can safely supply 75hp per cylinder. I am shooting for 300 hp crank provided that the Dyno shop knows what they are doing. with the control the WAR Chip claims i should be able to fine tune the car for three different setups with the fourth being my base map or any map i choose as default.

The war chip allows you to adjust spark and fuel right where you want it I am told one knock out of five revs is the edge so the is where i will be running race gas at the other tunes will be zero knock.

Still not running

Yesterday i added the oil and re-install the starter and alternator wires, but still no XP laptop. The fuel pump is not even thinking about coming on with out the war chip programmed.
I also realize i have to re-install the original AFM because the plug did not match up, the MAF was for an m44 i did not research properly before i bought it, i was was sold on the price! I thought maybe i could slice the lines (the MAF for the M44 has four wires and the M42 has six wires) decided not to try the voltage was a concern when i asked the guys @ VAC. So i decided to re-install the old one. Installed to the air boot on the throttle-body and now have to re-run the inter-cooling piping.

XP laptop found now no wizard!

So I found a laptop and tried to get ready for wizard to pop up and and a page with the files popped up. I joined the forum at Miller Perfromance and got instant customer service! e-mailed a link to me to down load files! WOW! and to think i was expecting contact by Monday being they would closed today, cool! so I get to the car late in the day and changed the water pump and re cut some pipe back to fit the BOV and afm and see i need to make something to connect the piping to in the front of the afm. I will post pictures Monday.

so with that said, i never got around to loading the chip. i will do it after some rest late tonight. now it is getting close to seeing if it will run fingers Xed:eek:hnoes. Being that I put it together on a street curb:emo: i made sure that i read my manuals and placed everything properly. So far I have invested into to the suspension and now the engine. the Suspension is also on the budget side and i have NEX Coil-overs and some control arms. The coil-overs are what gave me the thought of adding (big power) sort of speak. The NEX coil-over can go very low and hold there ground with a stunning quality ride for sport suspension! my friends tell me it still feel like a BMW just tighter! so if you don't have big monney for coil-overs i suggest you start with these, than work your way up. the car dose not lean at all! the tires squeal and the car is still not leaning:p: (I need rims) I see a 70 MPH exit if forced to!:D The stance is solid too, dose not bottom out unless you come to a speed bump (so I inch over and it scraps the exhaust every so lightly :eek:hnoes and that is the only problem, i was hoping to have wheels by now, so now i will raise it back up before i pull off, about two inches. It has close to a 4 inch drop not really my style but is handles perfect. So now it is going to have 100 more horsepower i hope and dream, and with that it is going to feel like a go kart!

I bit off alot this time

Its inspiring to see the work that you are pouring into this project.[/QUOTE

I am a car freak so it is not a problem, i don't watch T.V. so it is something i rather be doing, the fact that my car is an hour away is, so if i don't have it started by Monday i will use AAA and tow it home, that way i can work on it every day after work. The major pieces are done no more cutting and adding parts just have the front of the afm to fab for BOV and radiator plumbing left to plug back in and strap wires and vacuum hoses down, and of course the W.A.R. chip.

No fuel

I finally got my car home last night, my fuel pump relay is not activating. I bypassed it to check to see if the fuel pump went bad and fuel poured out of all of my injectors. when I installed them i thought they were pretty loose. I checked the o-rings against the old ones and they are smaller. so tomorrow I will be picking up the o-rings from BMW. as far as the relay I believe one or two things ECU was damaged when i installed the W.A.R Chip or the W.A.R Chip is not loaded correctly, remember the W.A.R Chip has not been developed for the 990 ECU. Broady @ Miller sent over a 990 file but we had to load a 282 ECU file to activate the chip. I will call Miller tomorrow.

What next?

I went to pick up o=rings and for a little rubber o-ring for my injectors BMW wanted $7+ a piece and i need all eight went o Advanced auto and it was $8 for the entire set but they had to be special order so i should receive them by Saturday. As far as the W.A.R. chip I spoke to Broady via e-mail and he has been very helpful with trying to get the ECU to come alive and when he found out my chip was soldered in from the factory he asked me to install the chip the other direction, so i will not be trying that until the o-ring show and i put my intake back together, he also told me to load the 990 tune in each tune file and assured me with the technology of the chip as long as the tune is on it will work. so hopefully Saturday i am inspecting it as it idles.

Just a few pictures of the build below

Sorting out problems

After bugging Broady @ Miller to death I have deducted that my ECU is damaged, I did drop it one night while i was working on the car without the cover I am assuming it was damaged then. I ordered another ECU, it is a silver tab and i am hoping the silver tab is the 990 with a removable chip so i do not have to be so invasive to install the W.A.R chip. I also had to rotate the turbo's mid-section because the oil feed was touching the Manifold and causing it to crimp. I also ran into a coolant leak the was totally my fault due to the thicker head gasket i was supposed to address the gasket between the t-stat and the water pump. all the areas around the timing chain are suppose to be modified in order to seal properly and i modified the gasket on the perimeter and not the internal one which is for coolant travel between the t-stat and water pump here i may have a problem' i may use a flat head or a pick to press the gasket down to add gasket making material to seal this area i am hoping i do not have to remove the head to get the seal i need to handle the pressures this gasket has to endure.

When the new ECU arrives i will install it strait away to ensure it is the ECU that is the problem before installing the W.A.R Chip than i will install the war chip with the base file to make sure that it is not the W.A.R chip. Modifying the W.A.R. chip could have damage it also but i doubt it I was very careful with it, every time i look at it i think to myself it cost $350, so i don't want to through $350 in the trash and on the other hand I am starting an Auto repair and modification business soon so i can look at it as experience acquired if i did indeed damage it.

Some loose ends i have right now is where to install the Boost gauge and turbo timer. the turbo timer is easy i can actually tuck that away once it is set but the boost gauge i do not want to mess the interior up in the car so i am not sure where to put it. i will eventually add the Wide band and oil pressure gauges so i think i will go with the three pod that will replace my change bin under my clock. so until i purchase that i may mount it to the dash to the left-side of my steering wheel with a bracket.

Finally Exhaust Fumes and Gas? WTF!

I got the new ECU and the car fired right up and could have really fired right up with the fuel filter leaking tons of fuel, the funny thing is i never touched the fuel filter. I got the 990 silver tab and it is exactly the same as the green label. After starting the car and finding a fuel leak decided to spend the time once again to make the 990 a swappable chip ECU and install the same grid that would allow this, after two hours with the solder iron I installed the original chip to make sure that the ecu still worked and then i installed the W.A.R Chip and it wanted to start but i can tell something is way off and it wants to back fire or something but whatever it is, is not good so i am going to send Miller (Broady) an e-mail in the morning to see what i can do from this point.

When the car idling it had a serious lope to it, i am wondering if i set the cams properly against the number one piston. I had it TDC and had the cams pointing towards each-other before installing the gears but i will re read this section in the repair manual to make sure this is not why it is loping so bad.
