I figured its just stressing my motor so i might as well get it fixed befor summer. Ill post and tell you guys what my mechanic says tomarrow morning.

I finaly brought the damn thing in and it wouldnt act up for him. Bastard car. Its playing games with me i swear to god.

Hey Bob, check your radiator in two ways, the bleeding of the system and the level of your coolant, it could look like is full but the system probably could have very little coolant in it. try that and then let us know.

I had that problem for about 2 months until I knew it was lack of coolant and my radiator leaking. I was even trying to replace my electric fan until I tried that first and have no more problems

My mechanic said that a little over half way on the gage is ok in the winter. He told me your engine wants to run at about 220 degrees. I guess its fine. It cost me 50 bucks to find out nothing was wrong but im glade i dont have to worrie about it now.

i never let it get much past half way cause i was worried about it. I guess it stoped and the fan kicked on at a little past half. i dunno. weird

i have relatively dumb question. do all cars use different sensors for the gauge and for the fan? why is redundency needed if the one that matters most (the sensor that turns the fan on) fails more often than the one hooked to the gauge? just thought someone would have some sort of explanation.

Yes there are two sensors. The one for the fan just turns it on or off when the water reaches a certain temperature. That's all it does. The one for the gauge monitors and displays the engine temp so you can see what is happening. If you are asking if they could be built together, I supposed they could? but they actually do two different things.

i leave my car running every oppertunity i get now. haha. Warmed my car up befor work this morning. It was pretty amazing. haha. Im just really stoked to not have to worrie about that shit. Thanks for all the input on the subject. I hope all of you get it figured out. Peace!

Lies! I trust my mechanic. Hes the only other person that gets under my babys hood! haha

EMP Stewart Water Pump

I have been reading the forums regarding cooling problems on my 3-series. I just found a new product that was just released last month. Looks like it is supposed to increase flow by 20% over the stock water pump and is twice as efficient. I also noticed that other forums are talking about this pump:

I'm thinking of purchasing this pump, I wonder if it will solve my cooling problems? The link to the pump is:

What do you all think?

That is a lot of money. I guess if I auto-X, did track days, or raced, or was going to keep the car for a long time, it would be worth it.
