first, not even sure our cars have that
second i thought that only delt with cold start up performance,
and ive never heard of anyone doing that on a bmw

pretty sure that'll void your warenty
there arne't really any "cheap" ways to get much power from these car, but you might want to start with software

 

flemishlion, are you talking about the intake air temperature sensor? Although I have not heard of this as a performance boost possibility I am open to anything new. The sensor info (from another website) is:

"The IAT1 Intake Air Temperature sensor is often used to replace the stock IAT sensor when MAF (Mass Air Flow) kits are installed. On many air flow meter (AFM) cars, the IAT sensor is internal to the AFM. When the AFM is replaced by the MAF sensor, the stock IAT sensor is removed. The IAT1 replaces the stock IAT sensor and can improve cold start performance. It is generally installed in the stock air box in front of the air filter. The IAT1 comes with a connector and nut to hold it in place"

As this is generic information, I am unsure if it applies to BMW but if you have more info. please let us know.

 

i think what he is talking about is relocation.

in stock 325/330 this thing is near maf, and close to manifolds. so it heats up, and thinks the incoming air is hot. so it then retards the ignition, and makes less fuel squirt out.

if you lenghten the wires, and mount the sensor as distal as possible from the engine heat, it measures the correct temp. i think anytime you buy throttle bodies from dinan, this mod comes automatically.

no need to remap software.

I am with you peterkuleza, there is no way that I would put this on my car.
I wonder why you want "a slight increase in HP"? A slight increase is really not cost effective. BMW has already squeezed the majority of the power out of it's 325ci engine, any more will come at a significant cost.
