Hi Guys, thanks in advance for your help. Here I am again putting some money for my car(lol - aren't we all). Anyhow, I want to install a remote starter in my car. I just want to inquire if anyone has done this in E36 1994. Do you still have to by pass the clutch? I know my car starts without pressing the clutch but I don't practice it. I've read in BMW manual that during cold weather you should press the clutch when starting the car(well I always do especially it's freaking cold here in Canada). I don't get what's the purpose of this if the clutch doesn't need by passing. Any thoughts or inputs are greatly appreciated Thanks.

... dont recommend remote start on maual transmission because the onetime you leave it in gear and forget your car runs away..... but if your determand no you dont have to bypass the clutch if the car starts with the clutch engaged as ong as it is not in gear...

I've been thinking about a remote starter for awhile in my also 1994 E36. Mine is also a manual tho and I have been considering the effects of leaving it in gear.... so far I haven't purchased anything lol. I'm sure there's a diy around somewhere but I'm not sure where personally. It's not too expensive to have it done for you, but we're here to do our own work so I'd say look for a diy.

They do however have fail-safes that they can put in place. Mine is a Clifford Advant Guard 5 and you leave the car in neutral and click the remote twice and take out the key. After that you can walk away from the car and it is still running. Then click the remote again and it stops the engine. i just set mine up a different way... The wrong way...

^ like a turbo timer set up... when your in the car and try to let the clutch out the car will move and you'll be like o it is still in gear and put it in neutral.... then you cant leave your car in gear period..... just make sure your parking brake is in good heath first!
