when is it ok to rebuild an engine. i mean as far as Kilometers or miles? im curious because i may wanna rebuild my engine in the future instead of going to an M3 engine. now ive heard bad things about boring out the engine. can someone please explain why? i wanna know if it would be very bad for the engine block if i were to Force induce it (thinking Turbo) lots of random thoughts in this thread but i just wanna know what you guys think. also ive only got like 227,000 kilometers on the engine which is around 141,100 miles.

i looked at a super charger conversion for my 328 and was told that if my engine had done too many miles it wouldnt cope.....

.depending on how much of a rebuild/tune up your going to do will depend how well your engine will cope/last....... best thing to do is ask the people who are going to do it...

What about re-sleeving after boring? And aren't there kits to bolster the walls of the engine also?

well the 325 blocks are already bored out to their limits almost so if you do bore you cant bore very much

I thought the 328 was a bored out version of the 325 engine?

I know with the M3 3.2L engine you can bore out to 3.6!!!

thats interesting i always thought that the 325 and 328 were the same engine , just one was bored bigger. any validity to that?

the 328 is a M52 and a 325 is a M50, but they are basically the same engine just alot of internal stuff was upgraded in the M52's, alot more than from the M52-M54 change.

if you cant bore out very much, maybe you can stroke it to 3.0L or more. i know thats a very popular thing to do on e30's.
