Hey guys, I have had my e36 for a few days and am going to do the oil change tonight, but need to know what oil is the best to get around here...I know redline and some of those high dollar oils are good but no one sells that around here...whats the best to get at walmart or advance auto parts and whats the best weight?

if anyone here is an oil expert I think a great FAQ would be to explain the different weights in oil, etc etc.

My dad told me to use 20-50W because the older cars have more wear and tear on engine components and using a ticker oil will elliminate some "weird noises" coming from the car... also the ticker oil fills up scraps and abnormalities.

20w30 is recommended to high mileage cars... if you have more than 100,000 miles on that car then it's advisable... which reminds me i have to change oil soon...

I use Mobil1 5w30. My 2.8 engine takes 7 liters. I put in 7 US quarts and the mark was a little high on the dipstick.
