I can get a sweet 120,000 mile '92 325i Granite Grey w/ 5 speed for about $7,000 US with 9 rims and tires (5 summer and 4 winter).

I know about the rear shock tower and plastic water pump issues I've read about on the net already. Are there any other bad things I should know about this vintage of 3 series?

What else should I check for when he tosses me the keys for a whole day :naughty this Wednesday?

Also, if you have (or have owned) an E36, would you buy another?

(Although I thought they all come with a sunroof standard this one doesnt have one...)

Ditto on the subframe, water pump, window motors (sunroof?), radiator (plastic housing), control arms and foglights....and DEFINITELY bubbling on the door panels at the arm. But hell yes, I'd drive another. After replacing the irritating parts and pieces, you get to play with mods! :driving

PS That's my year, color and mileage (roughly). I'm diggin' it!

ya got a 92 also. the only problem i have is the OBC often says i got a a brake light out when i dont, its a bug in the OBC of that model ther is a fix but i dont bother . . . BTW if its in good condition you will love it.

blue book for it is 5600-8700 . . . but u get more wheels and tires . . . but still its not a GREAT deal but its not bad, id take it.

i got a 92 red 5speed, 150k ( 1/2 its life)

good thing no sunroof. mine is pising me off right now . . . the motor is fine but the cover that slides back when u open it so u dont see the metal is loose and its gotten stuck back there and i cant open the sunrrof and also i got it fixed and happened again. motor is 100% fine though . . .

Thats right! Almost slipped my mind...

The brake light bug is actually the chaper of 2 brake light switches under the pedal- $10part and 10 minutes work...goodbye brake circuit failure message! There are a number of posts on this subject in the forums... :driving

Thanks everyone! :thumbs

I have it now for the next 24 hours, with a date tomorrow at a local BMW Dealership for a look see.

If it checks out fine with no surprises, (I already plan to replace the windshield and the rear shocks) I'll have it plated and insured for the weekend!

Having finally driven a BMW, I understand the attraction! :yup

Once again, thank you for the FAQ link and the personal recommendations!
