I noticed that when I am driving on the freeway, and I hit a turn that is somewhat sharp, I hear this oscillating "whining" noise coming from my car. I am guessing it has something to do with my wheels or axle when turning at around 70-90 mph. Is this normal, or does it mean that something is unbalanced in my steering or something?

Where exactly is the noise coming from..the wheel itself?? Might be a wheel bearing prob or if it was a imbalanced tire you would feel a little vibration thru your steering wheel..

no, i don't feel the steering wheel vibrating when I make the turns. As for the sound, can't really pinpoint, but sounds like it's coming from the front area where the tires are.

have you checked or had the wheel bearings checked?

the wheel bearings tend to make a whining or howling sound when they start going bad. you will want to replace these before it becomes a safety concern. you don't want to ruin your struts.
