2002 silver honda CRV. hasn't been waxed since they got it last june so i decided to wash and wax. this is the stuff i used to do it. works really well, although waxing a silver car doesn't make much of a shine, but it's great because you can't tell the car is that dirty.

ok, now for the stuff on the hood (not roof). it was a little bit on the sides of the car, looked like black dirt that accumulates inside the tire, it might have been from all the road salt from the bad winter this year. but i'm not really sure, after i washed the car i could REALLY see the black dots. looked a little bit like crushed bugs hitting the hood, but it couldn't be. thankfully the wax took it out! i'll post the pics. sorry for the dark pictures, i forgot to use the flash and i waxed the car at 8pm last night, so it was dark. the left part of the picture i waxed, the right i didn't yet. but damn, that car was so SMOOTH after waxing it. felt like my tushy

any ideas to what it is????

that's oxidation and all sorts of junk building up on the paint surface. Basically the stuff gets on the paint when it's wet or rainy or snowy outside, when the sun comes out it bakes it right into the paint. Solution??? Mandatory waxing and clay bar every few months. If you have the time to run a clay bar over it you well get it out. However if you don't run the clay bar over it, you're just rubbing it into the clearcoat even more. Cleaner wax will get a small percentage of it out, otherwise you're just rubbing the buildup into the paint surface.

Mold, tar, or many many speckles of the poo I flinged at you. But probably tar, or mold, or poo flecks. Most likely poo flecks, or mold, or tar.

However, I would be inclined to say pootarmold flecks.

I just found this about oxidation on the paint of the car. I've looked up the clay bar but i did notice on the alpine white the clear coat is coming off around the gas tank area and futher up the body.

Is it okay to still use the clay bar on this area?
