hey all,

tomorrow i am heading to take a look at, and test drive an automatic 1996 328i with 199,000 miles on it. from all the pictures, the car is in beautiful shape, and all the miles are from a CT to MA highway commute.

my question is, is it worth it for an even $2000? also, if it IS worth it, what should i look for tomorrow when checking it out? the high mileage scares me, although from its condition i am led to believe it was well cared for BUT, will that matter with almost 200K on it?

Are you able to get reliable service records? Has the transmission fluid been replaced, like 2 or 3 times?

Well worth it, but don't expect it to be perfect. Budget at least another grand at the very least (if you are capable of wrenching yourself).

Go to kbb.com and look up the value. Secondly, look at the service records. If they don't have records, that is a negotiating point. Run a carfax. And lastly, take it to a certified mechanic, pay the money and have him check EVERYTHING. Good luck and keep us posted.
