ok. tried looking at other pages with headings of what i'm looking for but my bent computer just keeps saying it can't load page so i'll start a new thread.

i'm wondering whats involved with the following upgrades and if they are straight forward or worth the time/hassle.

m3 cams
m50 inlet manifold
m3 evo 6 speed box
lsd

just these for now.
thanks people.

if you're going to do all that you might as well stuff in an S50.

that's quite a bit of work.

same with the lsd.

i would just pull the rear end off an M3...well maybe not, i guess you could upgrade from that to an aftermarket one...

wow. ok cheers. i thought they would just be interchangeable parts. i assume the s50 is the m-power engine?

most parts would be interchangable, but still it would be a lot of work to interchange those parts...

like taking out the transmission would suck....especially if you're doing it by yourself.

LSD and m50 intake mani are pretty straightforward. The other two are expensive and delicate.

ok. would the diff be a case of unbolt and replace with the lsd unit.
as for the inlet manifold would i be correct in saying the vacuum hoses and thing are the issue, it bolts straight on? what power gain does this give?

Yes, for the manifold you are looking at hoses, etc. Many people make kits available either through their online stores or through the different forums. You can build your own based on any of these kits already available.

what kind of power will the m50 inlet give? will it be a good use of time and money? have seen a few for £40 (which currently i'm gussing is about $65?ish) i've seen chips too. but after looking into it they only give you more bhp as they increase the rev range. not my cup of tea.

it might actually hurt your power if you don't install it with an exhaust...

it might create too much backpressure in the exhaust system, actually reducing air flow.

carguy means well, but might be uninformed.

Expect about 10 - 11 crank hp increase from the m50 intake manifold, but also a reduction in low end trque due to teh reduced back pressure. You can make up for the torque losses by installing a set of underdrive pulleys.
