i need help guys i have a 95 325i and i'm seriously considering getting a turbo for it. i just need help deciding what to buy or where to buy it from. anything you guys can offer would help and i appreciate it. and the engine is an inline 6. i know many things about cars and engines just not everything and this is something that i would like help on. obviously its a big choice.

Depends on how in deph you want to get with it. You can safely boost it to about 8 psi on stock internals. Or unsafely to about 11 psi. Also take into consideration miles, if its been driven hard, and any unknown motor noise. Your going to want to mess with the drivetrain also. New clutch, pressure plate, stronger drive shaft, LSD, etc, etc.

You can't just buy a turbo for these cars. Its quite alot of work and like RedBee says it might be easier to just go the supercharged route

You'll be safer supercharging on your E36. To tubocharge your car properly you're going to have to do some serious work to the entire car, not just the engine. Not to mention the tune is going to have to be absolutely perfect with the turbo.

Go Supercharger

I am seriously considering going with a supercharger on my car.
I have done tons of research, and this is what I have come up with;

Use an m90 eaton supercharger
(common found on Ford Thunderbirds, and Pontiac GTP's etc. $200 used)
The biggest problem is if you don't buy a kit (thousands of $$) you have to custom make the intake manifold. Which is not an easy task when you get into the most aerodynamic design.

Go supercharger because they are consistent power, and easier on the motor.
All though you wont have the top end power of a turbo it is much easier, and cheaper then a turbo. For street driving it is much more reliable, and comfortable to have a supercharger. Plus squeezing an inter cooler for a turbo in the front bumper of an E36 is very hard. Not to mentionthe tubing, and so forth.

So thats my 2 cents

I HAVE FOUND A SOLUTION!

I dicussed it with some guys on bmmerforums

And people are using the stock plastic intake manifold. It can handle the pressure from the boost that the supercharger puts out. So, you don't need to find another intake.:cheers

i think bmws are not good to add turbos, their front is packaged with loaded stuff already and also bimmer designed the front to be loaded because they dont want other stuff such as mice to get in there, so its not as easy as other cars to put a turbo in it, so my advice is not to put anything extra in the front
