what rpms are you dropping the clutch at?

If all you are looking for is drag traction you can get some drag radials, but then performance elsewhere will suffer. Pilots are one of the best all around tire there is.

Instead of dropping the clutch try and feather the clutch.

depending on how and where you drive will depend on the tyre......

for all season weather i found the best tyre on the market was the AVON ZZ1 unfortunately they have been discontinued now but there are a few still about.......they have been replaced by the ZZ3 but to be honest i thought they were crap!

Pirelli, toyo, and yokohoma, tyres are good but very soft, and in a hot climate they wont last long but the grip will be excelent.....

michelin are great, hard and long lasting but they are exspensive, in the wet they can be slippy......

good year and dunlop are ok but wont last as long as michelin and avon, but can be good alrounders.

you find with tyres you get what you pay for..... and remember tyres are the most important thing on a car..... after all they are what keeps you on the road, and in a straight line.......

I have found that 2700 is the best rpms for me to launch at, If I go any higher I need to feather the clutch, any lower and the car will bog down.

If you are doing at 5k rpms you will need to feather the clutch big time, otherwise you will sit and smoke like you said.

Pilot Sports are the best all weather tire there is, if you want something stickier and don't mind running summer only tires, go with BF Goodrich G-Force TA KDs

well... first off the 235's on the mroadster arnt that big. I think you can fit 245s with some buldge on the side. If you want to just hook up better while racing then deflate the tires some, dont do that for street driving though. You can put softer springs on the rear also... that will help.

I have a 99 m roadster and my best luck has been launching at about 2700. As far as tires go, i have 255/40/17 in the front on stock wheels and no spacers and 275/40/17 on the stock rear wheels also with no spacers, although with the stock 9" rear wheel, you can go to as high as 285's with any modification. I have been using sumitomo htrz2's for about 2 years and i love them, not too sticky, not too hard, and a great price.

The Michelin Pilot Sport A/S (All Season) tires have been the best to date all around for the Roadster. The Pilot MXM's were total garbage and a deathtrap in ANY (I mean a flake or two) snow. Did my research and bought a wider Pilot Sport A/S which was great with the stock 16" rims, but when I upgraded to a Cuppercharger (and now basically have an M roadster) I needed a Brembo BBK and so had to get all new wheels which, with spacers, just barely cleared the brakes. I LOVE the new rims and my race shop decided with me that 17's all around was best. They've been great! I highly recommend them! :D
