Hello,

I have a question about the size of the tires with which I can replace my worn 225/55R15. It seems that 225/55R15 tires are very hard to find and I was thinking of replacing them with 225/50R15, my local tire shop said it should be no problem if I want to use 225/50R15. Can anyone give me an advice if going from 225/55R15 to 225/50R15 will cause any problems? I know the tire diameter will be about 0.9" smaller.

I'm not very educated in the subject, but the first thing i can think of is that it could give you false speed readings...

wait, what i'm trying to say is that it could make your speedometer not accurate.

but that is a really small change so it shouldn't effect it that much...

Try going up a size or two when you go down in aspect ratio. Maybe to 235 or 245/50 etc. Check on internet for the brand you want to see if it can use the same wheel width also the chart would give dia. Best to stay close to dia of original tire. ie my other car came with 245/45ZR-18. The same dia would be 275/40ZR-18. It is commonly known as +1 sizing. Most tire stores should know about this. One other thing is make sure that you won't rub when turning with springs depressed.
