It was our company Christmas party and the my Mom was watching the kids for us. We had to drive from Ventura to Santa Barbara just about 35 miles. Any one who knows the area, knows ther are two ways to go. One being HWY 101 or The back roads (canyons). I frequently drive the back roads in my 88' 325i and know these roads well. Allthough I consider myself a novice driver my skills are improving daily and feel confident within my abilities. My wife drives a 03' 325i with the manu-matic transmission (the family car). So, anyways we leave the house and the kids and head out on our way. We come up on Rincon Point and I bolt off onto Hwy 150 for a short stretch with a nice downhill Roller Ride marked at 20-30 mph. The wife asked me what I'm doing? I need to see what your cars got!....wanna have some fun? A bit hesitant.....be carefull...Please! O.K. pull the shifter over to Manual drop it into 3rd and sqweeze down the excelrator. We average 65-70 mph through the short section of Hwy 150 and hook a left handed hairpin onto Hwy 192. The wife is doing better than expected and the only thing thats really getting her freaked is the on comming traffic, which is more than normal due to the 101 south being overly congested that night. We blast through a thight siection with consecutive 20mph turns...theo 'Ole Lady' has the "Death Grip" on the door handle but, still I feel shes doing pretty well. Out of the turns and onto a 1/4 mile straight with a slight Dog Leg right around a tree thats up against the road. At the end of the streight is a Hard right hander with a slight down grade....Lots 'O' Fun but can be tricky. We're doing about 80mph down the straight I start slowing for the right hander and I'm very impressed with the operation of the Manu-Matic especially on the Down Shifts. I get the speed down for the corner and turn-in, the car sets and we hit a patch of MUD! Ohh!...Shit!!....The 'Ole Lady' Freaks!! as we get crossed up in a right hand Drift! I have to say I was not prepared for that and over corrected but, was back in control after two more corrections. The Wife was holding on soo thight that she gave herself "ARM PUMP". After wards she was joking about all of it. I think it was good for her to get her Adrenalin pumping; something she won't do on her own.

haha, sounds like fun. You learn from the past..so watch out next time.
Public roads may seem perfect for speeding...but what happens if there is something on the road, doesnt matter how good of a driver you are, if you hit gravel or something on the road you can loose it.

Oh well, atlest you had some fun. Sounds like the Mrs. did to.
