I just got an EURO Red& Clear tail light for my bmw but right after I put on the new tail lights the OBC say <TAIL LIGHT FAILURE> so I read the manual and the manual say it could be the bulb, fuse, or circuit defective. then I change the bulb and the fuse and it still says<TAIL LIGHT FAILURE> so now I think is the circuit defective but before I change the tail lights everything is fine so I don't think is the circut defective. now I am really stuck with this problem. plus inspection is coming up, if the the guy sees the OBC says that, he is going to think the tail light dosen't work and I am not going to pass.

can anybody help me out or give me some advice? please
thanks

I had the same problem I kept blowing a fuse after I changed my tail lights. and sometimes the would obc would say tailight failure befor the fuse would actuly blow. What really sucked was the fuse would take out my right tail light, right head light, licence plate light and and the interior lights for the speedometer etc.
I was cruising at around a hundred when my radar went off so I slowed to what felt like a safe speed but It turned out I only slowed to 70 mph all because I could,nt see how fast I was driving. I got a big speeding ticket. I changed mi tail light back the next day and havn,t had a problem. I think the problem was the bulb would rattle around in the socket and ground out but I had no patience to try and fix it

hey man, I find out is the bulb, the fuse inside the bulb is blow out so I change them and guess what, it still says <TAIL LIGHT FAILURE> so now all the rear lamp lights(brake, reverse, tail lights) are working but the OBC still said the samething. I guess I just have to take to the dealer to see what is going on.

P.s when you put your car in park should any light be on, how about when you pull up the hand brake should any light( rear lamp) be on too?

you know maybe you are right , I don't know if is OEM but it has the bmw logol on the lamps so it has to be from bmw or something, plus is made in taiwan(surposely it should be good).

all the lights in the lamps works(2 tail light work perfect) is just the stupid OBC keep saying tail light failure and I alread have the OBC say check coolant leve when I start the engine.

if I want to change the fuse which one do I choose to change I can't find tail light fuse in the fuses box.

parts made in germany from bmw will not cause errors on the OBC. but any other "knock offs'' will. also, it will work fine in some cases but will have a error

I've even switched out the tail light and it STILL does it.... :banghead Right now I'm so pissed I have no idea what to do. Some guy on ebay.com that was selling the clear tail lights said that I had to rewire them but he wouldn't elborate on what he was talking about. Does anyone have a solution?

i have the same problem in my car all the time. you should trying changing your bulb or your fuse. you should try turning all your lights on then off. try also changing your bulb while your car is off. then turn on your car and press the check button on your computer. this sometimes work for my car. it can also be that your computer is messed up. best thing is to take your car to a professional.

*thinking that this is some sort of joke ... who IS behind this he thinks ... I wonder, IS there someone behind this I think while wondering if I think I wonder ...*

You bought cheap parts. The problem is that the clear tails you bought are not made to spec (knock off brands, non OEM, whatever you want to call them. Like Satan they have many names). Many people have this problem. I think it has to do with the socket and wiring thereof.

Buy parts for our Sponsor EuroPersona, or other reputible source, and not CarParts.Com. Make sure they are made in Germany, or BMW OEM, and your problems will go away.

Don't believe me?

Put your OEM tails back in .....

you can always go the red route and skip the clear. Much less common, stands out more.

what I find out is the socket, I thought there is only 2 tail lights but it turn out to be 4 total tail lights. is not the bulb is the socket, for some reason is hard to put the socket into the new lamp so I thought I put all the socket in(TWO tail light) and tight but it turn out to be is the other (TWO tail light) is not really in the lamp hole so I take them out and make sure that they are all in and I got no problem at all. it even fix my other problem, my obc use to said brake light circuit but now is find.

for those who has the same problem you should try that.( becareful with the bulbs too)
