Ok, when im driving between 40-50 mph and only that speed, my steering wheel shakes. Sometimes mildly, but sometimes it can get pretty bad, i know that my front shocks are leaking and that i have a worn flex disc and rear shock mounts, could that be the cause of this? and why is it only between those speeds???

that, but also, there it is a comon thing in alot of cars.. it has to do with the natural rythym of the wheels spinning in the wheel wells...i dunno if you ever learned about this suspension bridge in the u.s. where the wind started blowing at the same rythmic speed of the bridge and it started twisting and bending, and eventually it fell, the same thing happened in my mom's 2001 mountaineer, we rotated tires, re aligned everything, helped a little, but if your steering wheel and whole car overall kinda vibrate, thats most likely what it is... just get everything balanced

I don't know about this rhythm theory but mine does the same thing and it is a warped rotor..Especially when I apply the brakes at higher speeds. I have seen a few other people on here post the same question and more than likely you have the same problem as we do. I would also go to a tire shop and have them check the balance on your wheels and tires to make sure...

I had the problem when I first got my car. My problem was the way the tires had been worn in. Rotating and balancing are probably your best options, and then alignment. If that doesn't work, new tires are the only fix.

I am not familiar with that chain, however the guys at goodyear explained to me that when I purchased said tires that if I needed an alignment then I would have to go to the dealership or special BMW garage, because most places dont have the know-how to do it properly on some european cars.
