so this weekend we were crusin and come to this stop light when a 97-98 svt cobra pulls up next to me so i look over guy gives me the nod light turns green but he doesnt go right away. get up to 4000 in first and all of a sudden dude puches it so i punch it match the guy up to 5000 when the car really comes on the cam and loves to run drove right past the guyand kept pulling through another gear. obviosly i won so i slow down put the car i 4th and this dumbass pulls up and goes did you want me to put ot all the way to the floor? i was like wtf i just kicked your ass and you were flooring it. so i tell the guy sure drop the hammer down shift int 3rd then in 2nd and the little wuss canges lanes then turns off the road. apperently he didnt realize that the M decimates all!!!!!!!!!!!!!

sounded like fun...... but on day you will be beaten..

i had the same thing happen to me but i ended with egg on my face..

some kid in a beat up vauxhall nova came up behind me and he was four up, so to start with i was just taking it easy around corners and islands etc, so when i came up to a main straight i thought right he can have it, so i dropped a cog and floored it...... i looked in my rear view mirror and there he was, still there.

only to find out he was running a 2.0 turbo in a car that was under half of my weight..... just goes to show onje day you will meat your match by something that you wouldnt expect. :blink:

Yeah, I'm building up a Mazda Miata (I think in europe they're called Eunos or MX-5s can't remember which) with a turbocharger with the express goal of being faster and more nimble than an M roadster.

BTW, nice kill!!

let me add that triggrhappi's miata will roughly do 0-60 in 4 flat...no bad for a little roadster eh? "Captain, prepare for take off!"

my current estimate places the total cost of it at around $17k. The car will weigh a few hundred pounds less than stock, so something like 2400-2500lbs. My power goal is 320WHP and no less than 280lbs of torque to the wheels. The car is probably going to make only 280WHP on the turbo I get from flyin miata, so I might have to retrofit a T3/T4 hybrid to reach 320WHP. Right now the car has a built motor, and is once again in pieces because of a clutch line failure that ate up the flywheel pretty good.

I'm also considering holding off on the turbo so I can build a Pro7 race car this summer and race it next season.

so man what will it take for me to stay ahead of you im looking for a supercharger i saw a m coupe in a mag once that had a super and was running like 650hp but i dont know how much build up it will take. anyway theres a guy near me that has a turbo miata it doesnt look like much but the damn things a little rocket so good luck hope it turns out how you want it and let me know how it goes well compare time slips

Sounds good to me man. A supercharger might do it, but you really don't want to get TOO much power in a car that small, because it will become undriveable very quickly. I know that the M Roadsters are already pretty tail happy, and more power is just going to make it worse. The reason I'm not going to allow myself to exceed 320WHP (and it wouldn't be all that hard for me to do) is because that's the most that the miata's chassis can realistically handle. The Track Dog (the car in my sig) is the race car that Flyin Miata races in the Open Track Challenge, and they run circles around vipers and such with 320WHP and a very lightweight miata. They could do more power, but the car would be undriveable.
