Driving yesterday...and all of a sudden I have smoke coming from the interior dash vents. Smells like something burning. Then it stopped. All controls still work...heater and fan function OK...any thoughts??? What should my course of action be?

Check for oil leaks in the engine bay.

I checked out the engine bay...and no signs of any leaks...and no odour like inside.

it's a bad heater core. not a good thing to have go wrong. probably 1-2 grand to fix. I witnessed this happening on my dad's car, smoke comes out of the vents temporarily and it smells like strange burning.

I still have heat and A/C...but now not much control of the fan. If I set it to auto the fan kicks in and out. But if it is on high...I can't slow it down...I can shut it off if I press and hold the fan switch (on the low side). Would it be a sort in the fan...or a bad fan switch??? No smoke or bad smell since this happened last week.
