Ok guys, everybody is talking about K&N or Dinan air intakes.

Here at Nikis Place have we been testing on the Niki Project car 1 (E30 - 320) with several different air intake solutions ( OEM, OEM+newer airbox, ITG, UFI, K&N, K&N performance & lastly Green)

Well we had to make our own kit to make it fit BMW E30.

For some darn reason did the mechanics "forget" to make Dyna's of every solution (or did Niki overrule my decission??) but anyhow, this is what we learned :

Tested solutions/ratings:

ITG / -1
OEM / 0
UFI / 0
K&N drop filter / 0
K&N Performance Kit / +1
Green Twister Performance Kit - Nikis Edition / +3

The filter is placed in an aluminium heat shiled which helps to funnel as much air into the filter as possible. The shield helps to create a vortex to maximise the air throug the filter, it also acts as a shield to protech it from engine bay heat.

The top of the filter has a moulded twist in to help spin the air into a vortex for improving air flow through the filter.

Facts:
Air intake diameter: 79 mm
Filter shield lenght: 180 mm
Filter shield diameter: 132 mm

Comes in different colours - but we recommend the aluminium version - as it will remain cool and the air flow will not be heated by engine room.

Ups forgot picture

Now let me see your in take and let me hear YOUR experinces - not the standard adversting speech - "this filter will increase horsepower by 56% and torgue with 45%) <---- Thats what the sales personel want you to belive.

Let me hear what you actually got from it.

I remember when first time I was in the Project car (OEM filter) it was kinda boring - then some few months later (I have been unmobile) was I once again passenger in the same car fitted with this Green kit - and awesome sound and engine handling. (Maybe the change in exhaust)

Well as the mechanic did owe me did I ask him during this weekend to re-fit the old OEM exhaust on the projekt car, in order to test it better.

And still - awesome sound, improved engine handling and more torgue.

Your turn

damn that is nice looking..the filter looks lik a jet turbine.hehehe
i love the k&n sound but there is a slight increase in power on my car in the higher rpms
I have Dinan carbon fiber intake, not sure on performance because it was installed on the car when I got it, however with my mods I can seriously pull a stock M3!!

all that really is, is a filter, with some fins to "propel" the air, am i not correct?
I guess that means we all think Josephine knows her shit. At least it doesn't cost 3k, **cough cough** Gruppe.
Ok Guys,

The Green filter isn't a "tornado" thing.

The top of the filter has a moulded twist in to help spin the air into a vortex for improving air flow through the filter.

This Twist is fixed - and does not spin - it simply rotates the air into the filter.

During the past 6 months have we learned from collegues that a lot of customers are complaining about K&N filters/performance items - and ever since have we been searching for alternatives.

And we found Green, not known within BMW performance, in fact aren't they known with in the "regular" car industry at all. Green have through out the years focused on Racing, and their products are targeted to racing teams "ameteur" as well as "professional".

It was one of the Performance wizards in our network that told us about Green - and said, if Nikis Place wants something rare and unique - then pick Green.

We are selling these items like mad to European customers - as Green are considered as "hard to get". Sellers needs approval from Green prior to selling their parts, and when we started carry these, did the European BMW owners go, "what the f**k" do you have the REAL Green parts ????

But we haven't yet sold 1 piece outside Europe.

And that makes me wonder

Remark:

The wizard that recommended Green has been doing performance for the past 20 years, his latest projects (BMW) E36 318is -> 620 horsepower, E46 M3 -> 850 horsepower.

I won't even begin boring you with his Porsche projects - but I was passed by one, and that porsche came like a bullet even though I was doing 180 Km/h.

You have a good point Speed, however, I do not recall any of the 'Tornado' dealios even trying to make comparisons between their product and others (and the big stink about those, If I remember correctly, was that they would shift after installation, nullifying their effect and causing loss of performance). Also, I don't trust any TV sales pitch, but I do trust Nikis-Place. Mainly because of their track record so far. Notice also, Josephine is not trying to make a sale - she is asking for other owner's experiences with other products ("<span style='color:blue'>Now let me see your in take and let me hear YOUR experinces - not the standard adversting speech - "this filter will increase horsepower by 56% and torgue with 45%) <---- Thats what the sales personel want you to belive. Let me hear what you actually got from it.</span>"). She didn't even quote a price, introductory offer, or free air freshner with every purchase of the Green (jeez, I like that name for some reason ..) Kit.

Now then, Josephine I need to play Devil's Advocate here. I'm not sure how/what the numbers you posted mean, or how they were devised (i.e. +1 means a little better than stock, -1 means loss of performance over stock) would you be able to explain them in a little more detail? It would also be good to see some dyno plots of the Green over stock for e30, e36, e46 models. I know it would cost money, and time (which is money) to make that happen but it will make the product a little more 'tuner friendly'. I'd have to guess that the reason you haven't made many sales to US tuners of the Green Kit is due to the fact that the team that created/perfected the product isn't very well known here in the US.

NOTE - I'm still searching the thread for any instances of ooooohhh, yet my results are NILL. Does not compute, unknown syntax, error in line 3.
