Ok,

my car has this gold pinstripe on the "Calypso Red" paint job and i dont really like where it's put, it takes away from the natural body line of the car.

If i were to remove it, do you think it would mess up the paint (assuming it was put on when the car was new (14 years ago)). is there anyway i could remove it without screwing things up?

Could a paint shop do it and if so would that cost a lot? thanks guys!!!

There are ways to remove a stripe (I'm assuming it's stuck on and not paint) safely, but on a 14 year old car you are going to have quite a bit of fading and you'd notice it. A pro shop MAY be able to buff it to a close match, but not sure how close they'd be able to do, especially since red is a dark color, and it would take tiime, which is where it will add up the cost. Oldest I've done is a 6 year old car, and you can still see where it was, but just barely.

IF you decide to take it off, method I've used is to heat it little by little, peeling back as you go, with a hair dryer. Keep the hair dryer moving. You'll still have some glue residue. A mixture of rubbing alcohol on a cotton ball and a finger nail will take care of that. If it's stubborn, use some scratch-X type compound to rub it out. You definitely want to give it a wash and good wax after, especially if you need to use the rubbing alcohol.

HTH! :cheers

i always thought it was a stick on one because its fairly thick, but after going out and trying to peel it (i figured faded is better than gold) i realized it was painted!!!!
