I recently purchased a 2001 325i(or Xi) and the remote key worked 2wice maybe but was very delayed, now it doesnt respond whatsoever. I have also tried to resync the key without success.

He stated replacing the battery TYPE (Panasonic VL-2020 Lithium Coin Cell battery) from any shop that sells specific batteries will fix the problem.


The problem is that i only have ONE key with this car, one master.


Can i still perform the procedure above mentioned in link with success??

The battery should charge itself if you drive for a long distance. But that will only work if the battery can hold a charge.

So chances are likely, being almost 10 years old, and probably used as the master key for 90% of the time, it may be safe to say that the battery can no longer hold it's charge?

if you break it, you could just use it manually open the car by sticking in in the hole. shifty)

Thats my current method, But i was concerned if i accidentally destroyed the circuitry if it will still lock/unlock manually..?
