I recently purchased a '91 325i convertible, which has an Alpine factory-installed cassette tape/AM/FM radio. Just beside the on-off-volume switch on the lefthand side of the radio is a small red LED with some kind of piezo buzzer/beeper, that flashes and beeps about every 3 seconds once the key is removed from the ignition switch. This continues day and night until the car is started again. Once the car is started, the LED and beeper go off, until you stop the car and remove the key again.

Does anyone know if this is supposed to do this all the time? And, if so, is there some way to program the unit to PLEASE STOP!

Thanks for your help!

DONT PULL THE BATTERY NO NO NO!!! i did that to mine and it locks up the radio! Unless you have the anti theft key your radio is now useless! Be sure you have the key. If you dont go to the dealership and they can give it to you. Then you can reset your battery and that might fix the problem but i doubt it. The problem your having is because the stock bmw anti theft radio puts on a alarm if any buttons are touched when the key is out of the car, it turns off when you put the key in... as to why its turning on when the cars on i dont know... maybe a bad connection somewhere.
