1997 BMW 328i 4 door sedan made in June 1997. It has the older business alpine radio that came with the car C33 DIN US. I need a new one since the volume knob and on and off switch totally came apart and now is lost IN the radio. I have heard that I can use the CD43 radio with a CD, which would be great my other had a cassette. Can the CD43 be used without any upgrades and does anyone out there know where I can get a used one? Do I need any different wiring or will it just plug in like the other radio. I remember you could not get a CD /radio back in 1997 and you had to get the CD changer in the truck which I never did. Thanks

For the cost of a new stock radio, I think they are $200... I don't remember if that was the price for a refurbished one or a new one... and it was from one shop here in San Diego... AND it was my dad who talked to the guy, so don't hold me to that number.

I kept my original radio with the cassette (makes it easy to plug my ipod into it, too) and got a CD changer for the trunk (I posted the info about it on here years ago). Are you sure you wouldn't want to do that? I like it because I know that no one is going to break into my car to steal my CD player.

CD43 is indeed plug and play. Just make sure whoever you buy it from gives you the security code for it.
