Quick question:
Will M3 or other six cylinder shocks or struts fit on a 318is? I'm not sure but I am guessing the rear will but the front won't. Is my hunch right or waaaay off. Please let me know either way.

Thanks in advance.

you can but is not reccomended for the 318. the difference in weight is large enough that it can sometimes raise the car instead of lowering it.

So then it would probably be okay for the back then since the weight there is about equal? My main concern was the mounts up front....would this be a bolt-on up there or would I need some modifications?

the springs would fit no problem, not sure about m3 shocks. As the for the rear you wouldnt want to mix them because of their different ratings. It would be like having P-zero tires on the back and snow tires up front. Not a good match.

if you are concerned about springs then el presidente is right. but as far as the shocks go, the strut housing on a 318 may be smaller than that of a 6cyl model, therefore the shocks will not fit in the front (but i could be wrong cause i dont have any experience with e36's). the rear will most likely fit no problem, but your better off going after market, such as Bilstein shocks, rather than M3 ones
