When they didn't think I was watching, my 9(almost 10) year old and another kid lined up in the street just after dark for a drag race on their Scooters. It was Josh on the 36cc ScooterX vs another kid on a 36cc Viza. They had a 'flagman' and a finish line 'official'. Josh took an early 4 to 5 scooter lead and held it for the remainder of the race (1/2 block). Is this the start of many more to come?

(Still in baseball uniform from tonites game)

His older brother (13) just ordered a 43cc one so he will be "King of the Block". Actually I let him get the bigger one because he wanted to put on a racing pipe and carb and as much as I like performance, I didn't want the loud buzzing reminding me of Civics with 'fart can' mufflers. This way, he can keep it stock and still outrun the neighborhood. :thumbs
As for first car, I'm trying to get them interested in late E30's or early E36's so the cars will be fairly affordable and they can do some decent mods.

The kid Josh outraced, his dad owns a lawnmower shop and sells the scooter he was riding (Viza), which costs about $200 more than the one we have (off the internet)

Thats one thing I DO NOT DO. I've left the Bimmer parked in some not so great places overnight because of calling a cab. I even used to give drinking and driving speeches to the S.A.D.D. chapter at the local High School. But from 16-25 or so, I drank and drove a lot. I'm just lucky I grew out of it without a ticket or accident. All my closest friends had DUI's.
2 to 3 beers and I won't drive. :nope
