I also have this noise in my 1990- theres a filter in the reservoir? the reservoir seems too small to contain a filter...
About where is it located?

how bout the high pressure line is it leaking onto the craddle of the car and not hitting the ground?

the hose coming from my reservoir down is leaking, and has created a below it.

but im am pretty sure the belt isnt slipping (although thats how it sounds) because the belts are new and they look like they have no wear on them.. the tension also seems to be correct.

Could that hose be the cause of the noise? also the fluid is old and smells burned, would changing that help any?

thanks.

if its hydrualic properties are in sync then it should be fine..

but if that hose is leaking youll get a noise.. no fluid or lack therof would mean your running the pump dry.. and it takes insane amounts of psi to turn that rack.. somethin like 1500-3500 psi..
