I was looking to upgrade my existing 530-2002 & today I’ve been offered 530i, 2003 individual @ 13000$, with 176000KM. This means that it is 50% mileage less than my current vehicle, the engine is also smother & faster in response & the handling is better. In addition to that it has big nav screen with better resolution. On the other hand the overall condition of the interior is not as good as my vehicle & the door panels are worn out. The screen does not have the TV function.

I am thinking to buy it to get the advantages of the lower mileage & better engine performance & handling, but to swap the damaged items with the good ones of my existing vehicle (door panels, roof fabric, AC outlets, front bumper).

Is it a good idea or not?

I think that's a pretty good deal rashid. Assuming the car has a majority of the paperwork for maintenance I would definitely look into it. Plus, all that stuff you ordered will still work on the new one as well! :thumbs

If you have the money to buy it without selling the old one then by all means do it. Maybe look around a bit first, you might find something else. If it was me and I was getting the new one I would switch up the interior stuff and then drive the 02 until it has a problem, then you have the 03 ready to go when that time comes. Good luck.

Thanks guys for the valued feedback. It is to be noted that the outside & inside colors of both cars exactly the same (Alpine white with tan interior). The only issue which is stopping me to go a head right way, is the TV which is available in my current vehicle but not in the offered one, though the same screen size is available in booth. If I get a confirmation that I can transfer my TV function then I will go for it without looking around … otherwise I am a bit hesitant ...

You can swap the screens over and the TV module from the boot in your old one.you may need the harness from your old one or you may not on my E38 the connectors were already there so It was just plug and play, have a look in the boot of the new one .

thanks marti, this is good news ... Both screens are actually the same, but I think the resolution of the new one is a bit better & it is showing Nav, Computer options in a better way but the TV option is not available on the screen. In this case do I need to swap the screens as well? Or only transferring the TV module can do the job & the TV option will immediately be shown on the screen?

Ok, I’ve looked around & found few more options. The best among all of them is 530i individual, 2003, sky blue color, with 80,000km on the clock, tv/nav & Bluetooth. The interior is beige with moderate condition & the wooden trim is in black color.

Driven it for 10 minutes on the highway & observed a jerk & lack of power sometime at around 80km/h & when I stopped, there was a smoke coming from the engine compartment from somewhere below the engine but the temperature was fine. Any idea of what could be the reason?

I am considering this option simply because I am expecting price around 10,000.

Thanks, I still need help on the second problem …

The car was losing power sometimes when I increase speed and I press gas pedal and rpm increases but decrease few times back (fast after each other) while I am holding gas pedal steady.
