I would just like to share a little tale with you all that happened to me yesterday. I am tirred and have the flu right now so exscuse me if this is not as descriptive as some of you would like. I was going down I-69 toward Lansing, cruising in the Z4 with the top down because i was enjoying one of the last warm days we are gunna have here in Michigan. Anyhow i usually drive that portion of the highway at about a steady 95-100 MPH depending on traffic. Well I'm going along at my normal cruise of around 100 and i notice this Mustang like keeping up with me. The car has all the body language that he wants a race. All of you know the signs, you can juss tell when someone is itching for you to juss initiate it and put your pedal to the floor. Anyways before i do anything i kinda notice that this is no normal mustang GT or Bullit. I could tell there was something special about this car. This guy is right up on my ass going down the highway at 100 so i floor it and take him up to about 145 MPH. Just then I wave to him in the traditional sense that "hey buddy, yeah its a BMW." O Yeah and not to mention this whole time even when im waving to him the BMW is at Wide Open Throttle and im approaching the speed limiter of 155. When I wave to him im guessing he is about 2 car lengths behind me. As soon as i wave i see him juss with explosive acceleration come up and start to pass me. He just flies by me and i look over and its like some 60 year old, white haired man in a golf hat. before he passes me he looks over with a big grin, that half "hows it going man" and half "HA HA FUCK YOU" look lol. So when he finally blows by me, and to mention again im going 150 MPH when he does, i get a good look at the back of his car :banghead , yeah in black lettering all i see ...." COBRA" I'm like fuuuuck, i need to take this american steroid car around some curves cuz there is no way im beating him in a highway WOT race. In the end this guy was really kool cuz we fucked around all down the 30 mile stretch of I-69 i drove that day. I hope you all enjoyed this, sorry i couldn't write it a lil better.

03 and 04 cobras are very very fast, he probably didn't have much for mods, just like a chip. you can put like 400 bucks in that car from the factory and be in the 12s with the right tires, just chip and change out the pully on the SC, and your done. its a sick car, but i like handling better.

hhahaa exactly, but hey im from Lansing Michigan, no canyons or anything like yall have in Cali. So its pretty much straigt racing here. Not much of a race scene in Michigan or anywhere to that matter compared to that of California. I went out today actually driving down the highway looking for people to race. Seen an older Cobra im guessing a 94 or 95 but he wouldn't race me.

An '04 Cobra with drag radials and a good driver will go 12's with no mods, seen it in person. I had a video saved of a 0-160 run in a modded '03 Cobra, total time of the video was less than 55 seconds. :rock BMW's are great cars that handle well and have decent power, but I have yet to drive a car that had the torque and pin you to your seat feal that my slightly modded '95 Z28 had. I made a peak torque of 321 to the wheels from 2900 rpm to 4800 rpm.

yeah i could have gotten a decent notch back instead of my 325, but they just don't appeal me for some reason, easy to work on, but a early 90s ford is not my idea of a good car

Whats to joke about, Z4 vs Cobra in an actual street race, you must be high on something if you think the cobra would win. I think all here would agree.

indeed the new cobras have supercharged v8's with 390bhp, so you would really need a new M3 to be able to tie with him on a drag race. but cornering, i would have to say the m3 would definately pull it better, not to mention all the options ford doesn't have and the build quality.

A stock 03/04 Cobra will do 0-100mph in 10.6 seconds and 0-150 in under 30 seconds. They are very quick.

Even at 150mph, they are still pulling. Ford limited them to 155mph, but they are easily capable of 170+ with just the limiter removed and no other mods. Of course, stability comes into question at those speeds since Ford didn't design them with 170+ in mind, but these things are monster in stock and modified form.

I'm thinking he was toying with the Z4 if he was 2 cars behind from 100-150mph. That and he must have had the limiter removed if he blew by you going 150+. And chances are that if he had the limiter removed, he probably tossed a couple of bolt-ons as well. So who knows if he was stock. Either way, quick cars and i hope to purchase one a couple of years down the line.

( and yes i know theres a huge dif between a cobra stang and a 305 iroc, but im just ilistrating my point)

LMAO! are you serious? :confused You will need more than an M3 :laughhead: Better atleast mod it to even keep up. I murdered one on the E-way yesterday and all I have is exhaust and intake. I would give you the cornering (maybe) But a drag race? I love smokin wannabe rich boys in thier toys :nana

Keep up the good fight and leave the racing for the big boys. :yezfunny

I'd race with a mix of straights and corners anyday over just plain straights, there isn't nearly as much skill required to go in a straight line, cept for shifting and all, but that's required no matter what you're racing. Pure driving skills come into play with a mix of the two.
