Hey guys, im new here and im having some problems with my 94 325ia. my car have 102kmiles (not sure if its the real thing) im from brazil wich is a hot weather and i use a 15-45w semi synthetic. WIch runs fine for like 2+ months and after that i check the dipstick its at/under the minimum mark. i have often a wierd smell in the cockpit (im not sure its burned oil smell). and i do have some dripped oil on my garage floor. Not sure if it is enough for the low oil problem. I've bought some valve seals (wich has never been replaced). And im concerned if its really burning oil from the combustion chamber. I've checked te OBd diag mode, it just keep showing me: "1221 , 1221 , 1221, 1221......" wich i think its wierd cause, i read it was supose to show some other error codes or "1000". and i bought the o2 sensor (1221 error). And now im concerned if its time to rebuild or try pistons rings. Any advice or help? cause rebuild a 6l bmw engine here, its REALLY expensive.

thank you.

Check engine light is for emissions problems and engine misfires. Bad valve guides and seals would cause blue smoke at cold start ups. Do a compression test dry and wet. Do it once on a cold engine, and then a second time with a small amount of oil added down the spark plug hole. If the compression is higher the second time the rings are worn. Find out what the codes mean and fix them too.

okay.. i'll try that tomorrow. if the repair shops isnt full. THanks man. I read the codes and it just keep on repeating: 1221, 1221, 1221... wich is kinda of wierd isnt it? it was supose to show different codes i guess or the 1444 or 1000... or not?

i bought at pelican parts the o2 sensor already, im just waiting till it arrives. BUt im really worried about the cilinders, hope its nothing or just the piston rings.=\ I bought the car a year ago, im not if they took care of the car. Im not even sure if the mileage is correct. is there a way to know if the changed the mileage or the real mileage?

with all the pain in my heart, i come here to say that my car is with low compression, through the cilinder. it was the company next to my house who did the test.(Wich they r really good, and know'em for a long time). Its time to rebuild, but it isnt worth they money spent on it. It will be a better deal to sell it to a car store, and get some money than, fixing it and selling to someone. I aprecciate all for your help.
