It was going to cost $1600 to buy it back for the salvage title. We decided not to repair it, since the quoted $7k repair cost was with used parts, which they might not be able to get, and we would have to deal with all of the reconstructed registering stuff. Also, selling it in the future would probably be a PITA, since it would be a reconstructed somewhat old crappy bmw.

darn.. repairing cars in USA seems to be a bitch :p Here in Estonia you could get that thing repaired for less than $2k :)

Altho parts seem to cost less in the states.. for example.. a Bilstein PSS9 coilover kit costs around $1400-$1600 there... here the lowest price i've found through a friend is $2200... and for a regular customer it would be like around $3000... sucks so bad...
