Nissan to Launch Next-Generation Skyline GT-R in 2007
AFX News Limited - October 23, 2003
Motor Trend

Nissan Motor Co Ltd will launch its new Skyline GT-R sports car model in 2007 according to president and chief executive Carlos Ghosn.

Ghosn said he intends to unveil the new vehicle at the Tokyo Motorshow in 2007 after which it will be launched for sale.

Ghosn said the new "global" version of the longstanding classic will be marketed throughout Europe and the U.S. as well as Japan to make it profitable, and not only in Great Britain and Australia where its market has been limited to date as a right-hand drive car.

yeah...but not the one coming here

The next Nissan Skyline will be wilder than ever when it hits the streets in two years. The all-new R35 Skyline GT-R will use a Le Mans-proven V8 engine that produces around 400bhp. fantasycars.com

the current skyline is what we see in the U.S. as the infinity G35...
the coupe is actually pretty nice, but it's almost exactly the same as the fairlady Z (nissan 350Z).

and those pictures of the "new" skyline are pretty old...that tokyo show was like 2 years ago.
and i know there's speculation of a V8 motor--personally, i think that's a route that they won't take, as the japanese performance market won't abide with it. they're in love with the RB26 and the rest of the RB-series motors. V8 would be too big and heavy compared to what the JDM is used to.
