Hi everyone...never drove a BMW until a week ago and drove home Monday night with an 02 330i with all the fixins, 5 sp. 8K miles and 19" wheels, etc. Until now I drove a Honda Accord 5 sp......now that feels like driving a go-cart....I had an experience yesterday, the ist day on the freeway, that I will put in the driving experiences forum.......let's just say that DSC saved me from sure destruction when someone did a 180 right in front of me on the freeway at 70mph........question: has anyone heard of ClearBra, a clear covering for the front end to protect from rocks and stuff? I saw it advertized. One of many questions from an absolute beginner.

Congrats on the car!! Welcome to the family!!

Those clear bras look like a good deal, but I've heard that they are a PAIN to install, and that it should be done by pros only. I'm not sure how they look on as I've never seen one (or maybe I have, who knows) so I have no clue how good/bad they look.

You will LOVE the 3 over the honda. The clear bra is a pain in the #$% to install and should be done by professionals ONLY. And if done by a true professional, you will hardly notice that its even there. At the dealership I was at, we had one guy who was trained exstensively to install them. I also would mention to only use 3M. The key to maintaining the film is the same as the rest of the paint, clean it, wax it. The keys to a successful install is preparation and application. Make sure the car is cleaned thouroughly. I would check around to some of your local bodyshops and even reputable tint shops. These guys usually have somebody who specializes it the clear bras. good luck!!
and repeat after me.... DSC is my friend

welcome aboard mastem!! B)

i haven't had any experiences with the clear bra. i have heard good things and also bad things about them. the bad things were mostly from those cheap imitations and they tend to yellow and/or fade over time. if you would like to invest in one, i would suggest you go with the 3M. they are very good. get a professional to install it for you. also, what color is your car? some colors the clear bra will be virtually invisible and some colors you can see the outline clearly.
