Hi I am new here so be easy on me :)

I am looking to buy my first BMW, a 520D se it is a 2005 model with 107K miles on the clock.

Firstly, normally buying low mileage cars, is this a high mileage for a BMW, it drives nice & has a full dealer service history but still a bit worries about high mileage? What should I look for?

Secondly, the car only comes with 1 key. Can anybody tell me how much it is likely to cost for a new key, both to purchase & how much it will cost to have it programmed?

Many thanks in advance

Welcome to the Werkz.

If the service history is sound and the vehicle tests out ok, hasn't been bought and sold in quick succession repeatedly it should be ok, see what sort of warranty you can get out of the dealer, and ask for a second key in your bargaining with them. Good luck and post some photos if/when you get it

Hi all, sorry not been back for a while been very busy work an all.

To answer denyo77 I'm in the uk

Well now then, yesterday at last I bought a 520 only problem is th edealer is sticking some new tyres on it & I can't get my hands on it until tomorrow night, doh. Can't wait though, at least it will brighten up a Monday :).

Questio how do I know about the model number? All you guys talk about E139 & things like that, whats that all about?

BMW designate the models with an E prefix, your 2005 520 would probably be a E60 I think. There is a web site that will give you all the different model designations, but I don't have it noted anywhere. Good luck with your new car.

Well I have got my loverly new car, a 520D 2006 done 91K in very sexy black & I have to admit I've driven brand new cars that feel less tight, I feels brand spanking new, it's absolutley gorgeous :D.

I'll take some photos of it at the weekend it's raining here (noooooo not on my car...lol) & post them.

Only thing is the dealer put new tyres on it (run flat ones) & the system is telling me it has a puncture (doesn't say which one) & all the tyres look fine to me. Having had a car with this alert on before I think it's just the system settling down but what do you guys think?

Also there is no owners hand book with it so I don't have clue what all damn buttons do, can anybody tell where I get one from, is it pos for a free download from BMW, is so can somebody post the link because I can't find it on their site.

I'll have a look for the "E" number website later & post it brettski suggests.

Right now I have to leave for work...MMMMMM think I'll take the long route in this morning ;-)
