Ok I have a 98 328IC just got it. The top doesnt work, but of course I didnt pay much for the car as it has been wrecked in the front. Thats all beside the point The top is fully auto including the front latch.

To the problem...
The top is doing nothing so I decided to put it down manually to see if I could resynce the motors. I pulled the leaver to release motors and began spinning the allen to manually put down top. After forever of spinning the front motor, I go to lift the lid it does not budge. I go to make sure the motor is not engaged and it still is. I pull the lever to try to dissengage it again.... still no luck. I was wondering if anyone has had this problem or if someone could take some pictures of the lid motor to show me what yours looks like please help me out. I will go try to fix it myself becuase its probably just stuck or the thing is jammed but I am not sure.

Well I was able to fix it after I pulled the motor bracket and evrything for the convertible top lid. For some reason it had jammed up and would not release after a little prying apart it did release... Now the top will move up to the point where the motor for the auto latch is suppose to take over and stop... any suggestions on as what to do to try and fix would be a bummer to have to take ten minutes to spin that motor every time I want to use the top.

This may be my problem but I am gonna risk looking stupid to try and fix my problem the drivers window doesn't go down... would this stop the top from closing all the way even though the door is open.??

Was the uni - body damaged in the crash?

Not a bit frame wasn't bent either car runs and drives. just need cosmetic parts and little odds and ends to fix her back up. Will post pics soon just have to transfer them from my phone.
