So many brands! Essentially, mufflers all do the same thing. However, all have different characteristics - some make your car less noisy, some give you more HP. I prefer golden middle and would like to get one moderately noisy without sacrificing the power (I have a 4cyl 318i). What is the best deal for me, and how much would I expect to pay? Suggestions on specific brand and/or website to order from would be appreciated. On carparts.com I found around 120 different mufflers fit for my vehicle - makes me dizzy... :huh:

this link will help you quite a bit . it give a few different brands with dyno graphs HP gains and sound clips. however some major exhaust co. are not in it like remus and brullen.

i would reccommend a good stainless steel custom free flow exhaust from local places like midas. ive heard good things about midas' ravin exhaust, although i dont know how it would sound on a 318 with single piping, but single piping should save you money.

Remus has always been a big name in BMW. Supersprint makes a lot for BMW.

Supersprint is one of the few exhaust manufacturers for the M42/M44 4 cyl E36 BMW's.

ya lots of BMW sites carry supersprint. if not check there own website.
