I'm looking into purchasing a 97 M3 in the next few days. I found a good deal but there seems to be a problem with the clutch, slave or master cylinder
(I'm guessing). The seller says "everytime u release the clutch the car just shuts off completely". Any idea what can cause this and how to fix it? Thanks.

I see no one has helped yet. A couple of questions come to mind.
1) If you release the clutch and the engine stalls because it over loads ie emergency brake seized that would be one problem.
2) If you release the clutch and the engine just shuts down ie electrical problem
it could be something as simple as a starter interlock switch doing funny things or possibly a cruise control switch problem. Those would both be on the clutch.
I can't think that any of these would be difficult to fix. You should get a good discount since the car isn't working properly. Only caveat would be that perhaps there are other issues that will surface once the initial, known problem is fixed.
