Well I decided to blow off school tonight and join my buds at the good old Great Lakes Dragway. My RT was .561 and my 60' time was 2.536 which ended up 15.122 @ 96.13 MPH in the 1/4 WEAK!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I saw an 95 M3 and we exchanged ideas on launch etc. I noticed he would catch 2nd and 3rd gear no problem, not mine. My last pass gave me a 15.002, however the RPMs actually went BACKWARDS as I hit 5 grand in 4th...so I'm guessin the clutch is wasted. Autocross at Miller Park Sunday so we shall see how it acts in that scenario. I'm hoping that I might be able to replace just the disc, but I'll have to research, if anyone has done it let me know. I'll post the times of my buds just for the heck of it. CYA!

04 Lancer Evo (stock) 13.315
93 RX7 R1 (376whp) 12.893
94 RX7 Tour (282whp) 13.009
95 BMW M3 (CAI) 14.1??
98 BMW M3 (stock) 15.002 :dunno
95 Acura NSX (??) 14.457
04 STI 13.5??
96 Type R (right side driver) 14.5??

What elevation are you at?

1/4 mile times has a lot to do with the launch, when you figure out how to launch perfect you'll drop your time to match that 95 M3.

Here's my 60' times in order of runs.

2.627
2.540
2.536
2.616
2.658
2.339

Now the 2.339 launch gave me a [email protected] as a result, however I still don't feel that this is enuff to get me down to 14 flat. Ahh, well I am just going to have to go back out there and practice, it could very well be my driving. I have had the car about 10 days thus far and it does offer a different feel as opposed to my Integra.

well most likely. though i would rather save the clutch for the track. the M5 clutch isnt able to take a lot of abuse.

the clutch burns up easily if abused(usually from hard launches like experienced at dragstrip). but normal everyday hard driving as long as clutch isnt slipped there isnt a problem

a low 15 second run on a e36 m3 is just about average. Do not expect high times from any BMW because they are not fast cars. Im sorry but you just cant get much more than that from a 2.5-3 liter N/A engine that is stock.

I saw a guy run 14.1 with his with only the addition of a CAI. His car also has 115,000 miles on it. My guess is that a stock M3 with lower milage can easily run the 14.0 1/4 spec. Furthermore an M3 with the mod chip, CAI, exhaust, pullies etc could pull better times yet. I mean I'm just guessing that should be able to pull what....13.7-13.8 or somthin right? For the style off vehicle it is I consider this FAST, however not certain if we then consider it stock or not. Just my 2 cents. CYA!

Correct me if I'm wrong :wink

well by fast i meant like 10-12. I can see a 13 happening with some work like chip pully flywheel and whatnot but then your not stock.

I've seen time slips for mid to high 13's with just CAI, high 13's stock. Your '60 times need to be around 2 seconds flat or 1.9 to get low 14's high 13's. Also note that there higher above see level the slower the tome will be.

:cya wait a second, why is it that any mag you read or any stats u look at they say that a stock 96-99 m3 should run a 13.9 in quarter, how do u get 15s, thats rediculous, cheap ass type r integra runs mid 14s and i would seriously sell my m3 if i got beat by that, i havent ran mine in quarter, but im hoping to be in 13s, i got a CAI, uuc exhaust, dinan stage 2... :guns

Nice pic! Are those wheels powder coated or just auto paint? Interesting look, I have the same color combo, but in 2 door. Looking to do somthing with it, considering wheels. Looks good 2 mw. CYA!

BTW Got my ass handed to me by a "cheap ass Type R" exept he had a right side driver so it was more an "expensive ass Type R", however I'm not going to sell it just yet... was thinking of learning how to drive it LOL. :D

E36pilot-

I just baselined my 325iS yesterday and pulled a 2.399 60' time on a stock 209,000 mile M50 engine.

It sounds like you're having some serious clutch slippage. Are you spining at all off the line? By the looks of your trap speed, you must be spinning very little.

On that last run when you dropped your 60' time by .200, your 1/4 mile time should have been around 14.7 sec. I'd recomend replacing that clutch.
