I just got a 1987 BMW from my dads friend and I was trying to figure out how to lock the car and my dads friend said your suppose to lock the trunk that way the whole car locks and so I tried and when I spin the key I can see the door locks drop and second later it just unlocks.

Can anyone help?:conf

Central locking should work from any outside lock. Locking by the trunk may mean that lock is the only one left working, and obviously it's beginning to fail as well. You may need new lock cylinders.
