Got a 1995 325is and just locked my car keys in my trunk. Triple A towtruck and professional locksmiths have both failed and now I need some real help before I whip out the sledge hammer. :banghead

The locksmith was able to get the hood open and access the fuse box but failed to open the central locking system.

Please help!!!!!

well if you got an 325is...you should have fold down seats...so if you can get the doors open...im not sure how you would go about that...

as a last resort i say do this...find a junk yard and find the cheapest piece of glass you can get...and then go to your car and break that window and you should be able to get in and fold seats down and get your keys

ya know, you could just go the dealer and get a new key cheaper than a window.

And how did you manage to lock the keys in the trunk anyway?

I had the same problem yesterday........ all you need to do is find a coathanger and straighten it out completely. After that bend the end up about 2 inches and make the end where the bend is really small. Then gradually make it wider. Put a bend in the wire about 3/4 a foot up the wire from the bended hook on the end. This is used to allow the hook part on the end get back towards you where the lock is pushed down. Insert in the side of the door and push the part outside of the car towards the body of the car so that the hook comes back close to you once its inside the car. Slowly place the wide part over the lock and slowly pull it to the left and a little up. after it gets near the small part of the hook it will catch and pull up. Good luck

I have a similar problem, with my '89 325is.

Some thief/vandal tried to pry open my trunk lock, and ruined the lock in the process. It cannot be opened with the key.

My boyfriend and I (with our chilton's guide) took a look at the wiring diagram, and found the leads coming from the central locking control unit, into the trunk lock actuator.

We stuck a switch between ground/unlock request...crossed our fingers...flipped the switch...and every lock in the car unlocked, _except_ for the trunk lock. :(

Seems that the electrical components of the trunk lock are shot. Thanks to that thief for bringing this to my attention!

Anyway, my question is this: Is there any MANUAL way to get the lock open? Mind you, the lock is so damaged, that the key cannot be inserted. Can I jimmy it with a coathanger? Hairpin?

If anyone can help, lemme know...

hmmm, first of all I would like to welcome you to the forums as we don't get too many women here.....DONT WORRY GUYS, I WONT CHASE HER AWAY!!!:bye
So, it sounds like you will have to replace the cylinder in the trunk...check your fuses too about the trunk not unlocking, there might be a blown fuse....if not, something has gone wrong in the wiring...

If you can put the seats down and climb into your trunk with some tools....take off the tool thing....then take off the insulation stuff.....you will see the mechanism there and it should be pretty self explanitory how to open it....

Hope this helps...

If I can get into the trunk, I can just manually pull the rod that would've been activated by the actuator in the first place, and unlock the trunk. It's just a matter of unbolting the seats and figuring out how to get in there. Doesn't look as easy as you've described. There's a layer of insulation, and then a large metal plate.

Not sure if the plate comes off or what. We could only peel back the seat so much.

Anyways...thanks for your advice. I've got my work cut out for me.

Also Asio, even though he has an e30, some of the e36 didnt have fold down seats. Others only had a small "skihole" passthru. Mine has neither. I have a solid metal plate.

Also, hows that RF cap work for you? I lied in my sig I haven't purchased one yet, but its on my to-do this month list.

Works great.....its just a half farad....I got it because my lights started gettin really really dim....the amp was drawing too much power....now everything is brighter than when I bought the car....

I have a question though....I have a 740watt amp....I bought it planning on buying a sub soon after, which I still have not gotten around too....my amp is four channel, should I just put the front to speakers to draw power from the deck, then the back from the amp, and the sub from the amp, when I get a sub....also what sub do you suggest I get....I just want one 10inch...I can build a box for it in my shop class....

Oh man deja vu, I had the same thing happen to me when my fiancee was in the trunk of my car and locked my keys in there, LUCKILY I was inside the car cleaning it when she did it and luckily whoever had the car before me had cut a hole where the armrest is for the bass to come through..so i had to reach all up in there and fish for them! The next day she locked them in my front seat!!! I had to call my cop friend who has all the jimmy tools and he got my door unlocked but messed my actuator up in the process, so now my locks work but not the driver, i have to lock it manually....
