had my inspection 2 the other day from BMW, wasnt that bad only cost me £230. but i couldnt believe how different the car felt afterwards..... it was so much better.

i suppose over the period of time as your green lights go out you dont notice the decrease in perfomance but i noticed after wards....

I didnt think a warning light/indicator would effect perpormance, but it did?
ya because it means you need to get your oil changed or something and that does affect performance slightly. speaking of which i need an oil change soon
ive never heard of that. i think its put there as a LUXURY ADDITION. I could be wrong though. It would be kinda cool if the car could punish the owner for not reseting the service light.

yep, depending on how you drive depends on how quick the lights go out, if you drive like a wuss then your service intervals are further apart. if you drive like me then you will need a service around every 6k.....

changing oil, and plugs regular will help to keep the car running smooth. when the oil gets all shitty it can create more resistance on moving parts...... you dont notice it as the oil get dirty as it doesnt happen over night, but as soon as you change the oil and plugs you notice a differance straight away.....

the way the lights and service works is like so.....

when the car is new he first service it will have will just be an oil service (oil, filters and plugs)

then as when all the green light go out and the yellow one comes on (6k-10k) you will require an inspection one, oil, filters, plugs, certain other fluids, and an inspection of the majority of the car.

then you have another oil service again.

and then you have an inspection two, thats all the fluids ( engine, gearbox, axels, some times brakes, coolant ) the list is quite comprehensive.....

and then its back to the start again with an oil service, and then repeat the whole thing again....

if you already knew that then i'll shut up!

Where do u guys go for insepection 1s and 2s
I am due for an inspection 2, the land rover dealership claims they did it before they sold me the car(and didn't reset lights) but I want to be safe and get it done, I have been putting it off though, the $600 is scaring me off.
I'm having serious electrical probs with my 325i. I have done everything that I can do. The entire instrument cluster quit along with the cruise 2 days ago and all my fuses are fine. That being said it could only be 1 of 6 things if you get my drift. Any suggestions would be greatly appreiciated.

Fatty - where'd you have that inspection 2 done? I assume from the £ sign you're in the UK. I've never gotten away that lightly for an inspection 2...!
Where is the sensor that wil provide the green and yellow lights? Since i've had my ride, I've never has any of those lights show up. Do you think this is b/c i have a bad sensor, or maybe it broke of fell out? What would it cost to fix/replace? It would be nice to have something tell me when to service, rather that counting miles in my head...

over here in the UK Bmw have a scheme called "PLUS FOUR" any BMW over four years old is entitled to this.
with out it an inspection two would cost me £400-£450 but with this i only paid £230. basically they reduce the labour, parts and service costs.....

.........but then a service lets say on a 316 will cost you less than a 328 but then a service on an M3 will cost you more than a 328...... so depending on what you have and how old will depend on your cost.

the best thing to do is call your local dealership.

also aswell with using a bmw dealership, they collect and deliver the car. when your there you can help your self to drinks and refreshments, at my local dealership they have the internet facility for you to play on. and there is a wide screen Harmon kardon tv to watch. and when the car is done they will valet the car inside and out.
