Chevy took a chance when it rolled out the 2005 Corvette to shoot some advertising footage in San Francisco recently-and lucky for us an intrepid photographer snapped a few shots before the car was spirited away. We're assured that this is the final product, the sixth-generation Corvette, that is bound to make headlines at its world debut at the 2004 North American International Auto Show in Detroit in January.

These photos have already made a huge splash on various Internet websites, including a site operated by the photographer that was overwhelmed in short order by Corvette fanatics.

While we'd still like a clearer view of those fixed-position headlight pods-the first on a Corvette since the early '60s-these photos fill in the rest of the details when it comes to the profile and rear end styling. Look for this trimmed down C6 to weigh in at about 3100 pounds in a shorter, yet wider package. Rumored powertrains include the venerable 5.7-liter V8 boosted to about 425 hp, but we also hear of a variable-valve V8 producing upwards of 500 hp for the hot Z06 model.

You all like it ? I'm sorry but I have to disagree. This is just another boring ass design that Mr. Lutz approved.

I agree with you their is nothing inspiring or original in this Corvette. Just another Vette that will creak and pop after 20K miles. As much as a hate the new Bangle designs :banghead at least BMW is taking a chance with it's designs and good or bad has stood behind the desicion to release those designs to the public masses.
