My 2003 525I has lights over the vanity mirror but I can't figure out how to turn them on. Even if I pull the visor down and open the vanity mirror door I get no illumination.

Do I have a problem or is there a secret - hurry, my wife needs to adjust her makup often, at our age.

It's possible that the bulbs are burnt out. I would pull them out and check them first.

Answer found in the forum

Actually found the answer in the forum, by bluevee, and all works now, thanks:

1. Remove ignition key
2. Pull vanity mirror light escutcheon away using just finger force
3. Test bulb with VOM; if infinite resistance ... buy 6411 13.5Volt 10 watt bulb
4. Replace bulb
5. Turn ignition on, pull down visor, and slide vanity mirror door open; both bulbs should light up
Note: All three switches must activate (ignition, visor position, mirror-door position) for the both lights to light in unison.
