I think that depends on your idea of good money. I personally couldn't tell you anything about an M3, but i like my 325. That's just me, and sometime in the future I'll start looking at some other models, but for now, I'm satisfied.

the the differnce between 189 hp and 240hp is a biggy and the body kit which i would put on a 325 and evyerthin else
how much are you making?
insurance would eat you alive! its a good plan tho, if ur really makin that much money. but remember a 325i has decent power too.
its only like a 40 hp difference at the wheels if i remember correctly anyways not worth the extra price difference imo
Ok heres how i see it. I would die for a e30 m3 body... but thats not gonna happen. I love how frugal the e30 is. Nothing on the doors, nothing special in the interior, very plain. Very small lightwieght (for RWD) car. Its only 2800 lbs and it makes 170 hp at the fly and 160 ft/lbs of torque. Moderately high reving engine. And the thing i love best about it is the boxy, high off the ground look. It looks like a old school ralley car. The car handles better/funner than a stock e36 m3 just due to its smaller size and wieght. Ask anyone who owns a m3 and a e30... i bet theyll agree. The added power of the m3 may seem cool and all... but that added bulk really holds it back. It may seem faster. but your paying a LOT more for it. Uniqueness... everyone has a e36 and there are a crap load of m3s. Almost no one has a good looking e30 or even better *auughhhgg droool* e21 *bitch ass tubog ill kill you* Ok im done ranting. You may have a lot more ego... but your wallet will be thin... and youll be having less fun. (like when that first woman backs into your car with her SUV *DIE DIE DIE SUV*)

it's not a bad thought if you are making enough cash. However I would not recommend an M3 to any 16 year old. Get a 325 and learn to drive first, once you can handle the 325 and you have learned to drive it to the limits then think about an M3.

240 hp might not seem like a lot but I can tell you that the M3 has a shit load of power and is very fast, very easy to get yourself into trouble. I'd hate to see you buy an M3 and crash, even worse hurt yourself or someone else.
I second Cams motion.
i am almost 16 and would never think of buying an M3. too fast.

EDIT: <------------ scratch that M3 comment....i was tired and confused.
Yeah, get the 325. And dont pull a Steveo!!!!
 ...your too funny Fox...anyways If I were you I would get a 325i or an E30 M3..I'm 21 and I would love to own a E36 M3, but at this point in my life I want to have fun and not worry about money. I'm also start my own buisness so i have to dump alot of money into that. But I'm going to get an E30 M3 in the next 2-3 months and fix that badboy up like the my E21. Good Luck!
E30 M3's are amazing all around, but wouldnt be a good car for a kid. all though, stock, theyre no faster than a e46 323i, maintenence on a S14 could be tremendous. E30 M3's now a days can only be owned by enthusiasts who dont mind constantly dumping money into the car. not that it has a problematic engine, but you will be spending lots of money right off the bat for 'common' repairs. then you will get addicted to modifying the car to bring it to its full potential.

I have had an M3 and now I have 325is. Yes the M3 is much faster and powerfull.

For less than 2 thousand dollars you can get a complete body kit.....

For another 2 thousand you can make a 325is as fast as a stock M3

The insurance is less....
The car is still awesome and chicks can't tell the difference...
GOD DAMNIT! GIVE UP MOTHER FUCKER! ADMIT IT YOU HATE YOUR CAR AND YOU WANT MINE OR SOME OTHER.

no really when you gonna sell that sweet hunkey hunkey full big bazungas??

i learned to drive on my dads '98 E36 M3 4door, 5spd. Like cam said, even though it only had 240hp, it still pulled like a MOFO...learning to drive stick, i spun the tires a few times when that bmw torque got to me...still a overall awsome car (wish the interior could be a bit nicer) with stellar performance....definatly get a M3 or a used 330i Performance package (5 less hp, but 6spd, 0-60 in 5.9, i think that beats a e36m3?)..... :)

i bet it does pull...and i already know how to drive stick..took my step moms focus out over the summer and drove it..haha..im alright..not the best..but i dont stall..heh
heh insurance on a 325 is already thru the roof how do you possibly think you can afford an m3 insurance and maintenance...not to mention gas...unless your parents pay for everything other than the car...
stick with the 325 and then get the M3 later on, the M3 is much too powerful for a first car especially when you're a teenager.
