I have to remove the stickshift knob on my 2000 M5 (manual transmission) and it doesn't come off. I have a repair dvd which says to pull it up firmly, but I'm not sure it will come, as I pull up... Is this the right way? How is it made?
As I pull, the whole stickshift is moving up some millimeters and I don't want to break anything.

Someone know how to do it?

Put it in 2nd gear and pull hard straight up. The shift lever will have a tiny bit of movement, that is perfectly normal ... unless someone glued it on for whatever reason, it will come off (and before you break anything, as you put it). As Nick said, watch your forehead ... plenty of people have gotten off with bruises from gear knob removal. :rofl
