. the temperature gauge in the gauges is at normal(dead straight in the middle), so we can rule out thermostat??
but the air blows hot sometimes and smetimes cold then hot again and the cold..etc etc... ive tried setting it at auto,, max temperature... ive also turned the knob in the middle of the vents to red.. still nothing..

You can't rely on the temp guage. That being said, first I would park the car on an incline with the rear of the car lower than the front. Take the cap off the radiator and while the car is running and the heater on full blast, start pouring 50/50 bmw coolant and distilled water into the radiator a little at a time. I suspect you have air in the system. My e39 does this and it takes forever to produce heat. Get the air out and you will be golden. By raising the front end, the air rises in the system and works itelf out. Good luck.
