Hey guys,

I got a Pioneer 6-disc changer installed in a 2000 328i. The shop where I got it done hooked it up to the pre-wired cables in the trunk using a "handshake", basically an adapter that allowed me to use a Pioneer changer instead of shelling out ridiculous amounts of cash for the BMW changer. Since then, I've noticed a static hiss on parts of certain songs, the kind of hiss I would expect from a FM modular unit cd changer.

Has anyone else used a handshake component? Is this hiss normal?

Thanks

i had a kenwood 6 disk a while back and had no problems with the fm modulator, maybe you should change your channel, some work better than others.

The hiss is most likely interference from the device, but it could also be a problem with the cd, HU, or speakers.

If the hiss only appears in your car, then its not the cd. If possible, listening to the same song on the radio would narrow it down to either HU/speaker problem or handshake.
