Hey guys! I was on here just before the server died, and just got around to getting signed up again. I think my main question to everyone is how do you afford to do all this work to your cars? I have huge plans for my 325, but not the bank account to support the plans... It runs moderately well now, but i'd like some more kick to it, especially in the accel dept. Any ideas? The exterior is pretty banged up, and I'd like to fix the body, but that gets really pricey, and i think i wanna paint it a dark silver over the current black. I was shown the cosmos black, and that's nice. Maybe I'll take that. do you think you'll get the other topics open again? I'm looking forward to that.

Also, can anyone tell me why Miki's place is down right now? I know they were doing work to the store, so i couldn't shop for a while, but now it seems the whole site is down.

Well first off welcome to the forums, nice to see another e30er. I can give a couple hints for accel dept as i am doing/done this stuff myself. First since your car is old, 87 and you said the exterior is banged up some Im going to assume the car/engine was not handled and maintained as well as it should. Something you should do first is check the spark plugs, if they are crusted over and (most likely) white go ahead and get some new plugs, bosch baseline plugs are a good buy, and a great deal, i just paid $1.67 each for mine. Something else to do is replace the filter with a K&N cone filter, its a good decent buy and will give you a little more power in my opinion. Find one on ebay by typing "e30 K&N", theres a few on there now from one guy that sell for $40 which is an excellent deal, probly wont be able to find a better price anywhere. While you are changing out your filter, if you get one, you should take off your AFM box and clean it out with WD-40 or something similar. If your mechanically oriented i would suggest taking off the intake valve and cleaning that and the intake tubing also. Get your oil and oil filter changed for general maintanence. One more thing is get some injector cleaner or slick50, your older engine will like these. These few things should make a noticable difference and make your car run much smoother. Good luck with your new car

welcome!

those injector/induction cleaners are useless, there's nothing they can do better than good oil in the engine. a cone filter also isnt a good idea to put at the top of ur list, if u get any gains out of it then it wont last long cuz they get dirty quickly.

really try to get ur car inspected to check the seals, belts, valves, plugs, etc to get it running better than good. if u want better acceleration then go with a new differential, preferably limited-slip. i'm not familiar with eta's so i cant really tell u want ratio to get, but i think a good upgrade would be 3.73:1. that would pair up nice with a good suspension, adjustable shocks are great and Bilsteins are good too, and springs are good for determining how low u want the car.

crap... edix.

Yea a 3.73 would certainly be a kick in the ass for an 325e. That would make all your revs crazy, the stock final on a eta is 2.93 I would think twice about doing this though because youd be shifting like crazy, and youd lose a lot of your 1st and second gear functionality making them to short. 1st and 2nd gear are the major pull gears on an eta compared to an I that uses 2nd and 3rd majorly.

I kinda assumed it is, no I designation means its an e. But then again he could just be leaving out the I. Also MrM3 was talking about eta so that probly got me started. Maybe i have my posts mixed up and there was another person who said they had a 325 e but blah either way....

edit
I just saw that the post of Need your opinion by Inquisitive compairing the 190E and the 325e, thats why i thought we were talking about 325e

Hello

I'll just inform you that Nikis - Place is back up and running at full steam. The first reson for our downtine was that Murphy's law stepped in to action..really annoying  but we got it fixed and the new site is up and running.

The second reson that the site was down for somewhere between 24 and 36 hours is that when you change servers, that is moving the site from one IP to another IP all the DNS servers around the world( the thingies that translates domain names in to IP's, so you actually get where you want to go when you type www.nikis-place.com) needs to be updated, allthough this happens by automatic, it takes time. Not much one can do about that, thats just how the internet works :)

Oh..one thing i would like to point out, IF you have the old site http://asp.nikis-place.com bookmarked please remove that from you favorites, since the browser checks if it has the name nikis-place.com in it's favorites and if it has, it will use the old address.

Anyway, the shop is up, so please stop by :)

Thanks for the suggestions. I still have mixed feelings, though. I've had the car for maybe 4 months, and it's just a 325. No E or I, but i've been told that the E is a closer match. I've already changed spark plugs, ignition wires, i have shocks and springs on the way, and upgrading brakes, too. Oil Changes are general maintenence, and are done regularly. I've heard that the cone filter could actually hurt your car b/c it gets dirty so fast, and i think Niki's Place was doing some testing with those. Anyone remember the results on what aftermarket air filter was the best?

you have a 325 E. The only cars that were actually marked with an e are the ES's which were only made for 2 years. All other plain designation 325's are e's or etas

You have 121 hp and 171 ft/lbs of torque. i would recommend just getting a K&N drop in filter if you dont wanna get a cone filter. Me myself has a cone.

Fox, do you have any pics of your intake? Where did you get it, how much did it cost, and how much improvement did you notice after the instal? Does it have any shield to block engine bay heat?

yea i have pics i just dont have a place to host them now, my server got shutdown. They have one on ebay, a K&N for $40... that a steal. Best deal you will find ever... yea, i noticed a difference and they guy before me already had a K&N drop in panel filter. The difference comes right at 4 and up, thats where you feel it. Its not that big of a difference but i think it passes the ass dyno.
