I gave this a lot of thought over the past few weeks and unfortunately the M3 has to go. I'm going back for my Master's in August, buying a place in October (hopefully) and still have some school debt to pay off... that mixed with mods for the M3= me working 15hrs/day and that's not happening haha.

I need a car I don't care too much for in general and for winter... I froze my ass off last winter on the bus while garaging the M3 because I simply refused to drive it. I also need to get back on a bike as the itch is just too much for the M3 to scratch. I'm losing money on it and I HATE to see it go, but after considering that I'll have a car parked outside that I don't care gets bumped by peoples' horrible parking, a bike that I can enjoy daily and an M3 going to someone who can treat it well and not break the bank I figured it's for the best. I'll definitely be back in an M3 within 2 years, hopefully 1, but for now I think it's better this way. :bigcry:

It's not a "must sell" obviously so I won't consider lowball offers but I'm flexible and would like to sell asap.

That said...

-1999 BMW M3 (very very stock and very very clean)
-VIN#: WBSBG9338XEY82961
-Manual 5 speed with 83000 miles
-Dakar with black leather (paint is 9 of 10 with a small paint chip here and there in front and some swirl marks since I haven't had a chance to polish it yet... buyer might get a free detail worth ~$350+ as well... leather is 9+ of 10 as it has no tears, scratches, stains, etc. just some very light creases, mostly in the driver's seat side)

-ASA AR1 wheels with Falkens (tires are about 70%+ and wheels are in good shape... rear wheels have some spots of clear coat failure on the lips but it's not horrible and can be sanded quickly and re-cleared for cheap)
-'Homemade' short intake with heat shield (metal pipe from old Cosmos intake with K&N filter)
-DJ Auto headlights with 55w 6000K HID kit from DDM ($175)
-Alpine CD player with detachable face and ipod/iphone cable (cable comes out from under the middle console) ($150)
-White bulbs for entire interior, trunk and license plate (bought from autolumination.com)
-Black plastic kidney grille covers
-Illuminated shift knob
-45% window tint all around (except windshield)
-recently aligned by Anthony at A&L
-front fold-down license plate holder
-smoked stock/orange lenses all around

I am the third owner and the first two treated the car very well. It was always garaged, not driven in winter, maintained regularly and has fairly low miles. Oil has been changed every 6k miles, filter every 3k miles, new diff and tranny fluids (Royal Purple), comes with leather bra for the front as well as a few maintenance items (cooling system stuff). I might be forgetting something so feel free to ask.

Asking $14k negotiable but no lowballers

-I can sell without CD player (put in stock radio) and without the DJ Autos.. subtract prices listed above. Also, if you have wheels I'll sell for $600 less without the ASAs.

Good luck with the sale! I see you have the ASA AR1's. I used to have them on my car but the stainless lips got really nasty.
I had some before and they were fine with regular maintenance and my buddy had some as well and they lasted quite a while. I guess if you don't clean them often enough the brake dust eats away at the clear coat causing the damage.

Very nice looking ///M3 man - I know you have your heart and soul in it and don't want to get rid of it. As to the comment just above, it has been explained to me like this - unfortunately, other than the real enthusiasts and even most of them, there is the alternative of a dealer buy or a new car wth a warranty, etc. plus the recession which drives the price down significantly. I myself have been on both ends of this evil equation lately, both helped me and hurt me. I am trying to wait it out rather than get hit. The bottom line is you have a gorgeous car and want to find it a good home. Whoever gets it will get a great price at what you're asking for a fabulous car they don't make anymore that is in terrific condition. I know you want this behind you on an emotional as well as practical level, but as much as it is hard, I advise you to TRY and be a bit patient until the right buyer comes along and you get the good value you deserve for your baby.

Great job with the car and only the best of luck!

Exactly what I am doing. I would rather keep it than just get rid of it for blue book values and I've had 4-5 interested in it at $14k. Those who look for a clean M3 for half a year before buying know it's worth to pay the higher amounts, so I'm just going to either wait for that buyer or just keep it and baby it as much as possible. Clean E36 M3s are becoming a rarity, which is why I wish to keep it more than anything and just preserve it, but if I find someone in the same situation with a bigger wallet, then I have no problem selling.

Thanks.

If it's in your heart, then keep it & preserve it! It is a real beauty! :) With patience you'll get what it is really worth!

That's the thing... I'm keeping it unless someone comes along that will pay what it's worth and not try to hassle for a much lower price (unless I'm in a better financial position by then, in which case I'm keeping it obviously haha)

I hope that you find an enthusiast such as yourself that is willing to pay $3,000 over book for your "clean" m3. I don't see how you can justify that your car is priced well. The book is a guide that gives values. It remains to be seen what makes your car worth 25% more than book value. If you do the math you will see. Just like the guy in a newer post wants $17,000 for his modded 1992 e34 touring. Insane. Someone could buy your car for 3 grand less an get a real m3 as opposed to an old 5 with a m3 engine. Just like someone can find a better value than your car. In a down economy, you are lucky if anyone has cash for a car period, let alone 3 grand more than book. If you had a 66 gto, different story. You can ask whatever you want because there are maybe 10 in the world if not less.
