I just went outside to clean my car off and drive it to see how fun rwds can be in the snow...

Well, lol, i got stuck in my drive way so i went into my garage to get some weights to put in my truck, and as i got to the area where i parked i noticed a larger puddle of oil than usual. I recently helped my leak slow down with an oil additive but it seems like the leak is completely back again... As i headed back up to my car with the weights i was to put in my truck, i noticed drops of oil in the snow every foot leading up to my car :thud

I thought that oil would be thicker when cold, thus leaking less... Could the cold have messed up a gasket, causing the leak to get worse?

oil should leak less in the cold, but who knows. Are you sure it's not leaking somewhere around the filter or the flush screw thing.

dont know what else to suggest sorry

or the oil has accumulated on a crossmemeber while sitting and has now started running off. You wil be surprised where oil will hide in the chasis and suspension before dumping on the ground.

Thanks for your replies...

I got on the ground and really looked around today... And after about 15minutes i concluded that the oil is leaking from above the oil pan... I cant tell if it is abive the oilpant gasket though... What's above the oil pant that would leak oil?

AND It only leaks a large amount when running. It's been over a day since i drove it and i filled it with oil that day and when i checked it bfore i drove today, it was full... When i came home today i checked the oil after driving 30ish miles and you could tell by the mark on the dipstick that the oil level has gone down.

So, I'm trying to diagnose this. What is above the oil pan that would leak mostly when the engine is running...
and/or
If the oil pan gasket needed replaced, would oil leak out of it more when the car if running?

Thanks a lot... I really hope i can solve this.

i'm not a technician, but I am guessing (the best I can) that when the car is running, pressure builds up, which forces the oil through a possible hole/crack/whatever in the gasket.

when the car is off, oil slowly makes it's way down, and collects in the oil pan. at that point only the oil sitting above the gasket can leak.

again, im not a tech but i hope it will help and that u will fix it soon !
good luck
